Karen Gammage primarily enjoys painting, sculpting and quilting. In art, her main mediums are pastels, watercolors, and clay sculptures. Her work is principally traditional and usually involves animals and nature. She also uses a bit of contemporary garnish upon occasion, enjoying the mixing color and shapes and just being creative. Many of the clay sculptures are caricature animals in fired stoneware.
She has always felt that God gave us the beauty in nature and
wildlife to enrich our lives. If by absorbing the beauty, symmetry, and
delicacy of nature in its resplendent finery and presenting it in a pleasant
creation brings her pleasure, then she is blessed, and if it brings someone else
pleasure as well, then she is doubly blessed with God’s gifts.
